A Comfort
It feels to me like we’re entering a phase in which the wheels of the bus are starting to fall off.
Everything is becoming more blatant. The bald assertions that we do not see what’s occurring right before our very eyes. The cruelty. The corruption. The mental illness. The sycophancy.
Tonight’s attendance by HWWBK/E at the Knicks game, for instance. The deliberate, sheer meanness and selfishness, and complete (deliberate?) disregard for how the disruption of his mere presence would ruin the joy being felt by so many New Yorkers was both breathtaking and completely in character (or rather a display of his lack thereof).
Everywhere we look, though, the simple and utter commitment to gutting every facet of our country is apparent.
To be honest, I regret wasting these few short paragraphs on him and his disgusting regime, but I feel it’s necessary. There is a pall falling over our country that’s getting worse by the day. And I think we’re in for a temper tantrum of the greatest magnitude – and people will get hurt.
An almost untold number of horrific policies have been implemented by this regime, and the fallout from them is going to begin hitting all of us ‘regular’ people this summer. At the same time, HWWBK/E is becoming more dangerous (even though he is sleeping more – including in the midst of a championship basketball game – a neat trick). The ineptitude of his cabinet and other advisers is as plain as day – do we really think they are on top of controlling his impulses?
It comes down to the fact that we need to take care of ourselves. And we need to take care of each other, too. Now more than ever, the smiles matter. The little acts of kindness matter. The thoughtfulness matters.
I listened to an episode of Sounds True: Insights at the Edge the other day. It featured the host, Tami Simon, interviewing a Native American wisdom keeper, Jasper Young Bear. I’ve listened to it twice now, and I want to share it with you because I honestly feel that time is of the essence.
If you listen to this, you will hear that Jasper Young Bear has created a ‘medicine film’ called The Creation Story, as well as a four-part audiocast, both of which can be accessed for free. I have not yet watched (or listened) to The Creation Story (but I’ll probably let you know when I have!). But I highly recommend listening to this interview. This message matters. It’s up to us.
And keep looking up. This Cloud Being appeared in the sky above me on Friday evening - soon after I listened to this interview. The clouds have been magnificent lately, and I’ve seen a number of both protective and a bit unsettling other creatures. But this one…this one felt like a comfort. And a messenger.

We ride at midnight !
The clouds! Oh the clouds have been so amazing. And mysterious. And various. And sometimes full of surprises - like heraldring some 20 minutes of garbanzo sized hail from the sky.
