Another Full Moon
Another culminating moment in our evolution
I have a sense of foreboding regarding tomorrow’s end-of-term Supreme Court rulings. It feels like these final rulings, issued after tonight’s full moon, are going to set off a new onslaught on the sanctity of our country and our Constitution. I feel like a gauntlet will be thrown because the MAGA six recognize that their time is up. Things are going to change. And yet, they are going to try to rig the system so profoundly that it will either demoralize most citizens (and thus enable the status quo) or mess the country up so much that trying to set things right again will take all of our resources and attention, while others who share their nefarious intentions throw sand in other gears of our democratic republic.
July is going to be intense. I have a feeling there will be an astonishing amount of revelatory information coming out that’s going to send us all into an experience of an entirely new and heretofore unimaginable level of disgust and disbelief.
Yet, while the current regime has a lot more outrageous ploys and efforts up its sleeve designed to sabotage our faith in free and fair elections, and the attempts to remain in power and control will become ever more desperate and ham-handed, it also feels like a vast majority of people in our country are starting to see the truth with glaring clarity and are thinking (and stating), “Hell no!”
Perhaps it was the garish WWE wrestling that took place on the White House lawn a few weeks ago. Or it could be the shockingly pathetic ‘Great American Fair’ that’s taking place on the Mall right now. Or maybe it’s the reflecting pool debacle, which is being so obviously lied about (like everything else). Good grief.
It feels like the wheels are coming off the bus right before our very eyes.
I think the greatest danger, though, is the lashing out that desperate people do when they realize, even if only on a visceral level while still unable to consciously accept the truth, that the jig is up. They’ve been exposed. We all know (if we’re honest with ourselves and if past is prologue), there is no limit, no constraint, on the pain and suffering that will be unleashed by our dear leader, HWWBK/E*.
While there are many ‘birthdays’ or ‘anniversaries’ to commemorate in the lifetime of a person – or a country - this week’s 250th represents a pivot-point. No matter how you look at it, even up to the perfect synchronicity of the release of the final Supreme Court decisions just a few days before the 4th of July, we’re reaching a crescendo.
All of which makes me wonder what we need to know or keep in mind as we experience this culminating, full moon moment in our collective consciousness. What, if anything, are we being asked to release? What has reached its capacity, its limit?
After I typed the above sentence, I pulled out my Vision Quest Tarot deck. Blowing the essence of my question gently into the cards, I shuffled for several moments. Abruptly and unexpectedly, three cards fell out onto my lap. I was shocked to see that all three were ‘Major Arcana’ (the first 22 cards in a 78 card tarot deck). The Major Arcana generally symbolize the big themes of life and usually signify lessons, qualities, or developments of a profound nature, while the remaining 56 cards are more transitory or small-scale personal in nature.
The three cards that fell out of the deck were:

Life Force (XI) which in this deck corresponds with the Strength card in the traditional Rider/Waite/Smith deck;
Torment (XV) which in this deck corresponds with the Devil card in the R/W/S deck; and

The Clown (0) which in this deck corresponds with the Fool card in the R/W/S deck.
Instead of quoting from the LWB (‘Little White Book’ that accompanies pretty much every deck and gives interpretations by the deck’s creator), at least for now, I’m going to leave these images here for you to look at and draw your own conclusions.
Pay attention to the details. What do you see? Read ‘my take’ only after you’ve allowed yourself to see what jumps out and touches your awareness.
My take:
(1) Life Force/Strength (XI): As a nation, we have the ability to be strong, to tap into our Life Force. Our essential nature, or at least the way we’ve seen ourselves and often been seen by the rest of the world, is young, strong, idealistic, and relatively in balance with our surroundings.
(2) Torment/The Devil (XV): We have become shackled by our greed, addictions (to fossil fuels, to money, to ego), and hubris. We’re facing the sunset of our country, its fall and detriment; the birds of prey are circling. And yet…our wrists are not bound by knotted ropes. All we actually have to do to free ourselves is to recognize that we’re bound by our own beliefs and limitations. We have the ability to free ourselves, if only by facing the truth of our own self-bondage.
(3) Clown/The Fool (0): This is the very first card of the tarot deck. It represents the innocent, the one that is setting off on their journey of self-discovery and eventual empowerment. While I personally sort of wish we’d received one of the later Major Arcana cards (signifying a maturity in our wisdom, etc.), I’m not surprised by this card. It’s hopeful and exciting in its own way – but at the same time, it’s a NEW BEGINNING. It’s essentially an indication that we are STARTING OVER.
If it feels like it might be helpful, I’ll follow up tomorrow with some of the text from the Vision Quest Tarot’s LWB. Who knows what context we’ll be viewing this in by then.

My irreverent take : if don't recognize how easy it is to escape those bonds... Well at least we have a nice sunset to watch. 🤷
May it be so. Oh please. Let your interpretation be so.
