Keep Looking Up
It’s a practice that will pay off
A few of you have joined me in commenting upon the extraordinarily dramatic, whimsical, and occasionally profound Cloud Beings that’ve been parading through our atmosphere lately.
I’ve literally had to pull off the road and into parking lots in order to safely ogle at some of the more provocative ones I’ve noticed recently.
Yes, yes, we all know I’m guilty of pareidolia*, since I display it routinely in these posts. But even though I see a lot of different ‘things’ in strange places or random objects, it doesn’t mean that I ascribe special significance or meaning to everything I see.
I think a lot of this tendency of mine is probably connected to the way I view the world. I fundamentally believe everything is connected to everything else in some way. Not necessarily in comparable amounts – some things, obviously, are more tangentially connected than others – but we’re not hermetically sealed creatures. And this is not an hermetically sealed world.
Perception is everything – which is, actually, a shamanic way of looking at the world. Recognizing how we each personally perceive our environment and learning techniques that enable us to shift our perceptions are key components to effecting healing. To be more specific, they’re key components in effecting effective healing.
Wow – I went way deeper than I intended.
To backtrack, I just want to suggest that while I do routinely, habitually even, engage in pareidolia – and basically live my life with one foot firmly rooted in logic and the other in a world that’s intrinsically rooted in apophenia* – my habit of seeing images in clouds and objects and random things I encounter just serves as practice. Perceiving with a ‘soft gaze’ expands my senses, and thus my perceptions.
Sometimes I feel I’m simply being challenged or given opportunities to practice seeing in that special way. Indeed, it’s happened so often that it’s become second nature to me now. I see stuff all the time. It’s an ongoing combination of practice and exercise. Exercising my imagination and – crucially – making a point of allowing my creativity and imagination to be free and permissive.
But again, that doesn’t mean I ascribe special meaning – or messages - to everything I see in that way. Sometimes, I just see a whale:
It’s with that somewhat belabored explanation (sorry about that), I wanted to share with you some images I’ve taken note of recently that have appeared in the sky. They’re just cool things that have shown up.
I wonder why I keep feeling so compelled to exhort you to keep looking up and paying attention. All I can say is, while I may keep wondering, I’m not getting any answers. I’m listening, though. So my message to you is: keep practicing. Keep looking up; continue to expand your heart and mind and allow your gaze to soften. Indulge the creative part of yourself that yearns to be whimsical again.
Delight in rainbows. See whales and UFOs and dragons and great, soaring raptors and prehistoric birds in the clouds.
The more you practice, the more you’re honing your ability to see and recognize the messages when they are actually being sent directly to you, for you to perceive.
You’ll know when it’s a message. Trust me. You’ll feel that little stirring in your core that’ll tell you: pay attention.
You’ll know. And you’ll be glad you were ready to receive it.

A message from the otherside: Do your cloud oracle cards!
Thank you, Lisa, for sharing your perceptions and visions and for helping us practice as well. Those definitions are SO telling! The lens we "see" these gifts through is cracked or at least clouded (!). Let's keep looking with an open mind and a loving heart. I appreciate your sharing.
