Time For a New Game
(and 22 minutes on my walk tonight)
The sky. The clouds. So much tumult, drama, inspiration, and communication brought to us by wind and water vapor. The astonishing range of colors and the hints of secrets hiding in plain sight.
There seems to have been a lot to take in when I look up lately, especially when my walks get me out later. I wonder sometimes just what I might see if I were vigilant about watching the night sky evening after evening.

Beyond these ever-morphing creations of water vapor and my penchant for interpreting them, lately I’ve had a vague sense that there’s more ‘up there’ than I’m fully cognizant of. I’m not saying this in a general sense, a la X-Files, that “the truth is out there.”
Rather, I’m saying that lately, I’ve specifically and personally sensed something more.
Who knows; perhaps it’s just a general sense of boredom over the utter corruption and insanity I see playing out on so many levels not only (but especially) in our country. It just feels like it’s time for a new adventure. The stuff we’re seeing play out right now is just plain stupid. The greed, the cruelty. The deliberate desecration of our planet and our fellow creatures and humans.
The fact that such a small group of people have more money than they could ever spend in a million lifetimes feels like the epitome of a contentious, into-the-wee-hours, started out fun and slightly inebriated but is now hung over and bitter Monopoly game.
Let’s declare some winners (to assuage their egos) and clear the board.
It’s time for a new game.
Somehow, when I look up into the sky lately, that’s precisely the sense I get: “Time for a new game.”
And for what it’s worth, I felt Stephen Colbert’s finale tonight, and the rendition of “Hello, Goodbye” with Paul McCartney and the others, was both poignant and perfect. It too felt like an acknowledgement that while one thing may be over (and on some level, it definitely feels like ‘it’ is more than just a single late night talk show), it’s time for a totally new game.
Mourn for a moment what will never be again, but tap into the anticipation that stirs in our hearts as we clear the board.
Now - more than ever - we need to keep looking up. Who knows what we’re going to see?
*N.B.: No filter in any of these photos - they’re all reflective of how the sky looked to me in the moment.

Amazing photos and definitely time for a NEW board.
Beautiful pictures. Just rain here for the first time. ( I know you had rain, we didn't) So I watched with joy as the layers of clouds hung in the sky and the earth drank deeply.
